Bouchard, Nugent-Hopkins lead Edmonton to victory

McDavid adds three assists as Oilers force series back to Vancouver

Evan Bouchard and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each had a goal and two assists as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 on Saturday night to force a Game 7 in their Western Conference Second Round series.

Connor McDavid added three assists for the Oilers, who outshot the Canucks 41-27. Mike Smith made 24 saves for Edmonton.

Bo Horvat, J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson scored for the Canucks. Thatcher Demko made 36 saves.

The Oilers took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Bouchard and Nugent-Hopkins. Horvat cut the lead to 2-1 with a power-play goal in the second period, but Edmonton restored its two-goal advantage on a goal by Zack Kassian later in the period.

Miller made it 3-2 with a goal early in the third period, but Nugent-Hopkins scored again to give the Oilers a 4-2 lead. Pettersson cut the lead to 4-3 with a goal with just over two minutes remaining, but McDavid set up Leon Draisaitl for an empty-net goal to seal the victory.

The Oilers will host the Canucks in Game 7 on Monday night.
